Worship at St. Timothy Lutheran Church
Otisville, Michigan | Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Worship is at the heart of our life together at St. Timothy. Each Sunday, we gather around God’s Word and Sacraments, receiving His gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation through Jesus Christ. Our services are rooted in the historic liturgy of the Church and reflect both the richness of Lutheran hymnody and a variety of musical expressions.
8:30 AM – Traditional Worship Service
Our 8:30 AM service follows the historic Lutheran liturgy, often referred to as the Divine Service—where God serves us through His Word and Sacraments.
- Reverent, structured worship shaped by Scripture
- Rich Lutheran hymnody drawn from the LCMS tradition
- Organ-led music that supports congregational singing
- A connection to the Church across generations and centuries
This service reflects the depth and continuity of Lutheran worship, emphasizing Christ’s presence and promises delivered through Word and Sacrament.
11:00 AM – Blended Worship Service
Our 11:00 AM service also follows the historic liturgy but incorporates a more contemporary musical style.
- Led by a praise band
- Music from well-known Christian artists such as Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, Brooke Ligertwood, and Hillsong
- A balance of modern worship songs and liturgical structure
- A setting that is both accessible and rooted in tradition
This service offers a thoughtful blend of old and new, maintaining the integrity of Lutheran worship while engaging a contemporary musical voice.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion is celebrated at all Sunday services. In this Sacrament, we receive the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, given and shed for the forgiveness of sins.
Our Practice of Close(d) Communion
Because we believe that Holy Communion is a confession of shared faith and unity in doctrine, we practice what is often called Close (or Closed) Communion.
This means:
- Those who commune at St. Timothy are asked to share our confession of faith as taught in the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
- Guests and visitors are encouraged to speak with the pastor or an elder before communing
This practice reflects our desire to care for souls faithfully and to honor the biblical teaching of unity in faith as we come to the Lord’s Table.
If you have questions about worship or Communion, we welcome the conversation. Our pastor and elders are always glad to speak with you and help you feel at home.
We invite you to join us as we gather around God’s gifts each Sunday.
